Background
Jim Holman, a highly trained camera- and lens-technician, purchased an existing repair business, International Camera Technicians (ICT), from Manfred Mueller when Manfred retired. Jim moved the business from Northern California to his hometown, San Diego.
Challenge
Ensure Manfred’s existing clients understood the legacy of craftsmanship was being passed on and trust a new owner. The existing website was quite old (built in tables!) and there was no real branding, to speak of.
Solution
Keep the original name but develop new branding and a new website. Jim’s stepdaughter, Heather Wright opens in a new tab, worked up an initial logo, which was the inspiration point.
I built a new WordPress website that integrates with RepairShopR.com opens in a new tab, an online sales and inventory platform specifically for repair businesses. After about a year, we added WooCommerce to migrate sales of used cameras, lenses, and parts from his Ebay store.
To showcase Jim’s expertise, we included a page of repair videos he makes on YouTube. We continue adding both the videos and transcripts, for better accessibility and SEO.
